Sitting on Stacy at Beat Kitchen

Have you ever watched a ‘90s movie where there's a really cool band playing at a party and you wish that they existed in real life so you could go to one of their shows? Sitting on Stacy is that band.

Sitting on Stacy currently has 2 albums out that I would categorize as being a mix of surf rock, ska, and alternative rock. Their most recent singles, “This Summers Day,” “Ellen,” and “Some Kind Of Way” still stick to their roots but have taken more of a pop direction. By far my favorite of all of their songs is “Ellen.” I have a bit of a weakness for catchy pop rock songs with strong harmonies, and this song checks all the boxes. The song is so addictive that it's hard to only listen to it once, and there is a very good chance that it will be in my Spotify Wrapped for 2022 (We also had the honor of meeting t h e Ellen, who I assume the song is about, while at their show at Beat Kitchen).

Based on previously only knowing Sitting on Stacy’s recorded music, I thought that there was no way that they would sound that put together live. All of their recorded stuff is just really clean sounding and seems a bit too good to be true. But I was quickly proved wrong once they started performing and I learned they're all just extremely talented. Other than this, my lasting impression from seeing them perform live was their overall energy. They had really great stage presence and spent the set jumping around and interacting with the audience which was fun to watch. I also finally learned the backstory behind the name Sitting on Stacy…  but if you want to know what that is you'll have to watch our interview with the band.

So in the words of Sitting on Stacy, do you like having fun? Do you like going to a show and almost hurting yourself because you mosh too hard? Well if so, Sitting on Stacy is the band for you.

If you’re interested in listening to Sitting on Stacy but not quite sure where to start, you can listen to my top picks on our Tour Features playlist on Spotify. ALSO if you want to experience seeing Sitting on Stacy live, you can check them out at Riot Fest this September!
